The official PlayStation 4 controller, and one of the most comfortable and widely supported gamepads ever released. The DualShock 4 refined Sony’s long-running design with reshaped grips, concave thumbsticks with a textured rim, and shoulder triggers that pull smoothly rather than pivoting — a noticeable improvement over the DualShock 3 in the hand.

A touchpad sits between the sticks, used for gestures, menu navigation and typing in many titles, and it clicks as a button. Behind it, a light bar provides player identification, in-game feedback, and PlayStation Camera tracking for PS VR. A built-in speaker handles small audio cues routed directly to your hands, and the 3.5mm headset jack takes any wired headset for game audio and chat — including the mono headset bundled with the console.

The Share button makes capturing screenshots and video clips a single press, and a six-axis motion sensor (three-axis gyroscope plus accelerometer) supports tilt and motion controls in games that use them. Dual vibration motors handle rumble.

The built-in rechargeable battery charges over micro-USB, and the controller can be used wired for lag-free play. It also pairs over Bluetooth with Windows and macOS, where it’s natively supported in Steam, and works with iOS and Android devices.
