The all-digital PS5 — the same console as the disc model with the optical drive removed, at a lower price. Games, media and everything else come from the PlayStation Store.

Performance is unchanged. The ultra-high-speed SSD with integrated I/O collapses load times to a few seconds, while the custom AMD Zen 2 CPU and RDNA 2 GPU handle ray-traced lighting and reflections, 4K HDR output, and frame rates up to 120fps with 120Hz support on a compatible display. Tempest 3D AudioTech places sound positionally around you through headphones or TV speakers.

The included DualSense wireless controller brings haptic feedback via dual actuators — precise enough to distinguish surfaces underfoot or the recoil of one weapon from another — along with adaptive triggers that add variable force and tension to L2 and R2, and a built-in microphone for chat without a headset.

Backwards compatibility covers over 4,000 PS4 games, with Game Boost improving frame rates in many of them. Astro’s Playroom comes pre-installed.
