Tempest 3D AudioTech places sound positionally around you. The disc drive also handles 4K UHD Blu-ray.

The included DualSense wireless controller is where the console makes its case. Haptic feedback via dual actuators conveys texture and impact far more precisely than conventional rumble — the weight behind each axe throw, the crunch of snow underfoot — while adaptive triggers add variable resistance to L2 and R2. Ragnarök uses both heavily, and it’s one of the better showcases for what the controller can do. A built-in microphone handles chat without a headset.

Astro’s Playroom comes pre-installed and remains the clearest demonstration of the DualSense’s capabilities.

God of War Ragnarök continues Kratos and Atreus’s journey as Fimbulwinter closes in and the Nine Realms edge toward the prophesied end. It’s a direct continuation of 2018’s God of War, expanding the combat, the realms and the story considerably.
