The most powerful PlayStation, built to end the trade-off between visual quality and frame rate. On a standard PS5, most games make you pick between a fidelity mode with ray tracing at 30fps and a performance mode at 60fps without it. The Pro’s whole purpose is to stop asking.

Three upgrades work together to do it. PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) applies AI-enhanced upscaling for noticeably sharper image clarity on a 4K TV. Advanced ray tracing brings ray-traced reflections, shadows and high-quality global illumination. And optimised console performance holds higher, more consistent frame rates across 60Hz and 120Hz displays. On enhanced titles you get 60fps — or up to 120fps — with ray tracing and AI-enhanced 4K running simultaneously.

Storage is 2TB, which is the right answer given modern install sizes. Backwards compatibility covers over 8,500 PS4 games, and the PS5 Pro version of Game Boost lifts frame rates across many PS4 and PS5 titles. An Enhanced Image Quality mode applies additional post-processing to improve resolution in select PS4 games. Wi-Fi 7 is supported for faster transfers with a compatible router, with Wi-Fi 6 and 5 also working.

The included DualSense wireless controller brings haptic feedback via dual actuators, adaptive triggers, and a built-in microphone. Tempest 3D AudioTech handles positional sound. Astro’s Playroom comes pre-installed.
