The smallest, lightest and most affordable console of the current generation — and a considerably more capable machine than its size suggests. The Series S is built for 1440p gaming at up to 120fps rather than native 4K, which is what lets Microsoft deliver next-generation architecture at a much lower price.

It shares the important parts with Series X: the same custom AMD Zen 2 CPU, the same Xbox Velocity Architecture, DirectX ray tracing, variable rate shading and variable refresh rate support. Quick Resume lets you switch between several suspended games instantly without reloading, and the custom 512GB NVMe SSD keeps load times short.

Backwards compatibility remains Xbox’s strongest card: thousands of games across four generations are playable, many of them running better than they originally did, with Smart Delivery ensuring you always get the best version for your hardware. It upscales to 4K for output and supports 4K media streaming, so it works well with a 4K TV even though games render below that.

The included Xbox Wireless Controller features the hybrid D-pad for precise directional input, textured grips on the triggers and bumpers, a dedicated Share button for captures, and Bluetooth for Windows, Android and iOS alongside Xbox Wireless.
