A serious multisport GPS watch that pairs Garmin’s training platform with an AMOLED display, and one of the few watches in this class that manages both without compromising battery life.

The 1.3-inch AMOLED sits behind a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal lens — the reason to choose the Sapphire edition — in a 47mm fibre-reinforced polymer case with a titanium bezel and rear cover. It’s tested to US military standards for thermal, shock and water resistance, rated to 10ATM, and takes touchscreen input alongside the five traditional buttons that still work with wet or gloved hands.

Battery life is where Garmin separates itself from the mainstream: up to 16 days in smartwatch mode (6 days with always-on display), up to 21 days in Battery Saver, and up to 42 hours in GPS mode. All satellite systems with multi-band gives around 20 hours, which covers most ultra distances.

Navigation is comprehensive. Multi-band GNSS with SatIQ technology balances positioning accuracy against battery draw automatically, backed by an altimeter, barometer and three-axis compass. Preloaded TopoActive maps cover the world, with 2,000+ ski resorts and full-colour CourseView maps for 43,000+ golf courses. Round-trip routing and TrendLine routing suggest routes back to your start using popular local paths.

Training features run deep: training readiness, hill score, endurance score, real-time stamina, recovery insights, and the Elevate Gen 5 optical heart rate sensor with improved accuracy across skin tones and activity types. A three-LED flashlight (two white, one red) with adjustable brightness, strobe modes and a cadence-matched running mode is built into the bezel — a genuinely useful feature once you’ve had one.
