Where Joy-Con are built for portability and shared play, the Pro Controller is built for comfort — full-width grips, full-size analogue sticks, a proper D-pad and a shape that sits naturally in the hand through a long session.

Battery life is where it really separates itself: approximately 40 hours per charge, far beyond most controllers, with a roughly 6-hour recharge over USB-C. For most players that’s weeks of use between charges.

Motion controls via accelerometer and gyroscope are fully supported, HD Rumble delivers Nintendo’s fine-grained haptics, and NFC is built in for amiibo — just tap one to the right stick area. The Capture button handles screenshots and video clips, and the controller connects wirelessly over Bluetooth or works wired via USB-C.

It’s also become the default Nintendo-layout pad for PC gaming, with native Steam support and recognition by most emulators.
