Apple’s most capable watch, and the first to offer built-in two-way satellite communications. When you’re beyond cellular coverage entirely, the Ultra 3 can text emergency services, message friends and family, and share your location — a genuine safety feature for anyone who spends time off-grid, and the single biggest reason to choose this over an Ultra 2.

The display is the largest and brightest Apple has put in a watch, using LTPO3 and wide-angle OLEDs so it stays legible from off-angle. Always-on now refreshes once per second rather than once a minute, meaning a ticking seconds hand without raising your wrist. A new Waypoint face adds a live compass, a satellite complication and Night Mode to preserve night vision.

Battery life reaches up to 42 hours in normal use and 72 hours in Low Power Mode, with 20 hours of continuous outdoor workout tracking in Low Power Mode using full GPS and heart rate. Fast charging gives around 12 hours from 15 minutes on the charger, or enough for 8 hours of sleep tracking from 5 minutes.

On-grid, 5G cellular brings faster downloads for music, podcasts and apps, with an algorithm that engages both antennas in weak-signal areas. Precision dual-frequency GPS is the most accurate in any sports watch.

Health features include the first hypertension notifications in a smartwatch, based on 30 days of heart rate analysis, plus a daily sleep score, ECG, blood oxygen, temperature sensing, fall and crash detection, and Emergency SOS.

The case is titanium — now 3D printed, using less material — with a sapphire crystal front and 100m water resistance for swimming, diving and high-speed water sports. The Alpine Loop is a single-piece woven textile band with a titanium G-hook, the most secure of Apple’s Ultra bands for climbing and technical terrain.
