The Hyperion 3 is the first third-party Joy-Pad built from the ground up for the Switch 2 — not an older design retrofitted to fit. It uses a split two-piece layout that slides onto the console for handheld play, and an included centre bridge turns the two halves into a full-size Pro-style controller when you’re docked. Both thumbsticks use Hall Effect sensors, which read stick position magnetically instead of through physical contact. With no contact to wear down, the drift that plagues conventional sticks simply can’t develop — worth noting that the sticks shouldn’t be touched at power-on, as the controller auto-calibrates at startup. Every face button runs on a mechanical switch, so ABXY and the D-pad give a crisp, tactile click rather than a soft membrane press, and the triggers use micro-switches with dual-stage linear action. A 9-axis gyro with magnetometer handles motion controls, with the magnetometer correcting orientation drift so tilts and flicks track accurately over long sessions — useful for aiming in Zelda or steering in Mario Kart. Two remappable back buttons, a turbo function and adjustable rumble round out the feature set, along with wake-up and screenshot controls. Vibration runs on non-symmetrical rotor motors with three settings — off, low and high — though HD Rumble and NFC aren’t supported on this model (those are on the Hyperion 3 Ultra).
